Why Are Barbies Toxic? Nancy Nord Must Resign

Accessories for Barbie dolls were among the tens of millions of imported toys recalled this year because of toxic levels of lead paint or other serious safety problems.

Watch this short video of how toxic trade intruded the love life of Barbie and Ken and pass it on. See what happens when conservative ideology shrinks the Consumer Product Safety Commission, puts cronies in charge and leaves American consumers without protection from products made in factories with no health and safety standards.

Then sign our petition to tell Nancy Nord, the acting CPSC director, "Since you don't want to do your job, it's time for you to go." She has
resisted congressional efforts to empower her agency, working from the same right-wing, anti-regulatory playbook that has led to the agency losing roughly half its staff and budget since 1980.

Dear Nancy Nord:

Millions of unsafe toys imported from China have had to be recalled under your watch, yet you refuse common-sense reforms that would help keep us and our children safe. Meanwhile, you have compromised your integrity by accepting trips paid for by the toy industry and other business groups. Americans want an agency that stands up for consumers, rather than one ideologically beholden to industry. We therefore call for your resignation.
